Activities

Comfortable living is one thing, but entertainment is also on offer.

So Much to Discover

In addition to cultural enjoyment, hiking experiences, and relaxation, a stay in the Harz region offers numerous activities both outdoors and indoors.

Active in the Harz – With Plenty of Action for All Ages

In the midst of the forest, the more than 450-meter-long suspension bridge, Titan RT, offers an extraordinary way to cross the Rappbode Dam. If that thrill isn't enough, you can glide over the reservoir with the Megazipline, swing with the Gigaswing beneath the bridge above the water, or explore the dam's wall in Wendefurth with wallrunning. Our insider tip is a sunset visit to the Titan RT Bridge – simply breathtakingly romantic! The Wurmberg in Braunlage, the highest mountain in Lower Saxony, draws winter sports enthusiasts to the largest winter sports area in northern Germany.

There is also a cable car and chairlift in Hahnenklee at Bocksberg. The Erlebnisbocksberg offers rentals for monster scooters and carts, a fun park with trampolines, a slide tower, and more, as well as a bike park for mountain biking fans. In winter, the mountain transforms into a winter sports area. Below the Burgberg, the Baumwipfelpfad (treetop path) attracts many visitors to Bad Harzburg. At lofty heights, you can reach out to the treetops, spot forest animals, and explore the development through different geological eras. Our secret tip is the Wipfelglühen, a torchlight hike on the treetop path. The Baum-Schwebe-Bahn in Bad Harzburg descends more than 480 meters at speeds up to 15 km/h from the Burgberg to the end point of the treetop path, offering views of the Brocken while sitting in a harness system and reaching for the treetops.

Rainy Day Options and Indoor Activities in the Harz for Families

To escape rainy and gloomy weather, the Harz region offers a variety of experiences. When it rains, a visit to one of the many leisure pools in the Harz is always an option. Just a short drive from Quedlinburg is the Freizeit- und Sportzentrum in Halberstadt. The Sea-Land there features a sports pool, adventure pool, an outdoor pool, and a slide. Alternatively, you can dive into the waves or explore the slide and fun pool at Vitamar in Bad Lauterberg. In the neighboring town of Bad Sachsa, the Erlebnisbad in Salztal-Paradies invites you to enjoy the fun pool and an action-packed tire slide. For ice skating enthusiasts, the nearby ice rink in Bad Sachsa offers an alternative activity.

In the center of Bad Sachsa, daring adventurers can conquer various climbing stations at the indoor climbing hall in Ravensberg Basecamp. The HaWoGe-Spielemagazin in Halberstadt features an indoor play world where children and adults can explore together. Multiple levels are filled with climbing elements, tunnels, slides, and trampolines waiting to be discovered. For a flight of imagination, visit the Luftfahrtmuseum Wernigerode. This technology museum showcases numerous airplanes, including a Transall with a giant slide from the roof and flight simulators.

Quedlinburg and the surrounding area.

Mines and Caves in the Harz: Exploration Worlds for Young and Old Adventurers

Whether it's raining or very warm, a visit to the mines and caves in the Harz is highly rewarding in both weather conditions. In the town of Oberharz am Brocken, you'll find the Rübeländer Stalactite Caves, including the Baumann Cave and Hermann Cave. In the Baumann Cave, you can visit the Goethe Hall and the Wolfgang Lake. The Hermann Cave is home to Germany's only cave-dwelling olm, a species of salamander. You can also discover a cave bear skeleton and the unique crystal chamber with calcite crystals here. In Harztor, near Nordhausen, the Rabensteiner Stollen, the only anthracite coal visitor mine in Central Germany, offers insights into the everyday life of miners.

With the mine train, you can travel underground. An insider tip is the candlelit mine tour on selected Advent weekends! The Iberger Stalactite Cave in Bad Grund offers special glimpses into the past: The Cave Experience Center features an exciting exhibition showcasing the world's oldest family proven by DNA.
